★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We arrived after dark to The Staging post and were greeted by Linda and a roaring blazing fireplace.
We loved the natural rustic feel of the place the wide open skies, the chorus of birds singing in the morning and the peace and quiet.
Oscar loved the 2 white dogs, The chocolate bar Jar, and we all loved linda's homemade quake cheese cake.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Staging Post and its engaging hosts were a warm and welcome relief during our long research trip on the South Island. It is quiet and rustic indeed. We were all by ourselves in the farmhouse and enjoyed the fireplace. Fresh eggs for breakfast and invaluable input from a longtime landowner topped off our experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We really enjoyed our stay at The Staging Post. It was a bit of a trip highlight for us. They have a lovely place nestled in around beautiful mountain and farmland scenery, complete with a pool, games room, kitchen, showers and the hosts Mike and Linda were outstanding. Really warm and welcoming, and we ended up chatting to them for about 3 hours or so (given we only stayed there 1 night, says a lot). Would definitely stay again, and would also go out of my way to do so, if nothing but to see the hosts again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our mixed-age family group spent a night in The Coach House ... during 2021's once in a hundred year rainstorm!
We found the accommodation warm and inviting with Linda waiting for us at a lovely roaring fire. Linda made us very welcome and left us to it. We settled in and later went for a walk around some of the grounds. Mike was kind enough to come out in the rain to show us some of the highlights and tell us some of its fascinating history.
The facilities were great: we cooked the dinner we had brought with us and had a cosy night in front of the fire. The beds were warm and comfortable. The atmosphere was delightfully rustic.
We hope to come back some time in summer. Definitely recommend this experience.
