Tui Lodge - Tui Lodge 196 Taupahi Road
In 1999 we decided to sell the dairy farm and have a life style change. As fly fishing was Ian's passion from a very young age, we shifted to Turangi. Ian (as well as our son Andrew) set up a trout fishing guide business and Frances worked in 2 different restaurants which she thoroughly enjoyed. In mid 2004 our Tui Lodge, designed by Ian, was purpose built to a high standard to provide luxury accommodation in Turangi. We moved into our lodge in January 2005 and had a major task ahead of us with gardens to be established and lawns to be sown.
Having had many people stay with us from all parts of the world, life has been interesting! The lodge has been designed to offer guests their own privacy as well as the opportunity to be part of the family.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tui Lodge in Turangi is a lovely B and B located on what feels like a very safe and quiet street very close to restaurants and bars in the center of town. We usually stay here for 1 to 3 nights when traveling north or south through the North Island or if we just need a break from our busy lives. Turangi's a great little town to stay at if you are fishing in nearby rivers or on Lake Taupo or hiking/skiing or doing one of the many outdoor activities in Tongariro National Park and the area is great for our passion, photography. The Tui Lodge owners are wonderful hosts who can also put you in contact with fishing guides. The Lodge is very clean, comfortable and modern and each room has its own ensuite bathroom and there is a private living room with TV just for guests. It is located on a large section of land with magnificent gardens consisting of many native varieties of plants and trees. You can relax for hours with a good book, while looking out at this park like setting. The hosts also belong to the local garden club and they are keen hikers and can tell you the location of nearby hiking trails and tracks leading to beautiful peaceful river settings for photography or fly fishing. We will continue to break our itinerary at this wonderful accommodation.
