★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic walk. Very beautiful. Great to have toilet at the end. Make use you arrange for pickup prior to setting off. No cellular reception at carpark end of trail.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice walk, not too difficult. Took us about 4 1/4 hours, taking pictures and stopping for a coffee.
The hot water beach at the end of the track is a great way to end, the. You can take the water taxi back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A group of 4 of us walked from Tarawera car park to Hawaiki Bay.
Beautiful scenery but 1st part to The Landing turnoff is pretty steep.The bush alongside the track needs to be slashed back too.Otherwise a great walk with ups & downs along the way.
Next time we will go from The Landing to avoid the uphill part at the end.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ran out of water, almost died of heatstroke, Bailey tried to push me off a cliff, not fun at all! had to wait for ages for boat to come. water was only moderately warm if not cold. long drop was not even worth the 1 star rating.
steep part kept getting steeper. slippery stones, almost face planted was really bad. would do it again if I was trying to top myself. traumatic, still haven't come back right. still gives me nightmares. ate all of chocolate in the first 5 minutes because we became depressed. got lost no signs telling us to not walk off the track. no signal we couldn't do a live stream to tell the outside world that we will probably not survive.
the scenery was somewhat alright.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Loved it. Very tidy, well maintained. Completed in 4 hours with a 15 minute stop. Nice views all round of the bush and lakes

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stunning trail, worth the walk out to hot water beach(even if we did water taxi back). There's a bit of up and down so you can always send your stuff over on the water taxi if you don't want to carry it. I recommend the trek!
