★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely fantastic location being right on the Taupo lake front and easy access to the new and improved lake front track. Family unit very spacious and reasonably price, also having no others on the floor above makes a big difference. We have been using the family units even though it's only two of us. Decor a little dated but always clean and tidy. There is a 'slightly' heated pool and spa pool, but in the heat of summer, there is easy access to couple of little beach area on the lake front just around the corner.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great to have a dog friendly option. Comfortable bed and plenty of space. Kitchen very basic, bathroom a bit tired and they didn't service our room properly, twice. The pool was way too cold to use. Felt a bit ripped off. The guy running the place was very friendly though so maybe just teething problems during a busy time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed at cascades a few times, both under the old and new ownership. The new owners are putting in the effort to tidy the place up although covid's slowed this. It's cleaner than it used to be and already has some improvements. Beds are good, rooms are a good size for families, close to food and nice to be on the lake.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent rooms and sleeping layout , My daughter and young Grandson had privacy upstairs with own beds and ensuite plus TV while I was downstairs , very comfortable. Only a couple of steps literally onto the beachfront and beautiful walk around the Lake. Cascades Motel is Pet friendly and it was a blessing to bring my dog who thoroughly enjoys his many easily accessible walks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Room is very clean. Great facilities. Very quiet outside. Unfortunately we couldn’t book the lake view room. But 20 seconds walk and you can see perfect lake view. Pet friendly. My dog love to stay here.

Room was nicer than expected. Clean and tidy, but with a few extra thoughtful extras thrown in, like quality bubble bath etc. Nice small touches which made a difference.
Location is perfect. Easy to find, right on the lake.
I didn't try the pool but it looked nice. I was relieved to be able to use their laundry to catch up on my washing.
I can't say enough about how lovely the staff are. I'm really glad I tried staying somewhere different.
