My name is Lester Hall, I am an artist from Kerikeri. I had eye surgery completed by Dr. David Dalziel. My first operations on two eyes on the same days were a fail as the Dr. inserted incorrect lenses. In a long and very troubling post operative conversation Dr. Dalziel suggested they would probably be fine in a month or if they were not maybe the wrong prescription might be good for my artwork instead of the longer vision that I wanted for driving and sport etc. I found his attitude to be condescending and casually dismissive and utterly contrary to effecting a positive outcome for his patient. A medical mishap complaint and second opinion proved the failure of the operation beyond doubt. Foolishly I trusted Dr. Dalziel to perform second surgeries on my eyes to repair the mistake he now admitted. The second operation on my left eye was an awful experience with Dr Dalziel's assistant seemingly not properly prepared and conversations back and forth after my eye had been cut open about where the lens might be and what the box it was in might look like... Dr. Dalziel then damaged the first lens trying to fit it into my eye and then struggled with the second that would not sit correctly after many minutes of struggle. This procedure was an awful real time experience in which after perhaps fifteen minutes of mistakes and struggle I was very worried as to what was happening. I was told that the insertion was proving difficult and that some liquid or jelly was being forced into my eye to make the aperture bigger. The experience was a shocker. From the very fist day after the operation my vision in that eye was double as if looking through crossed eyes. It has remained stable but double at closer ranges ever since. Even after being shown images of how badly the eye was functioning Dr Dalziel suggested nothing was wrong that could be identified. Dr. Dalziel asserted clearly to me at my second post op check up that the lens was sitting perfectly in my eye and was not damaged. When I pressed Dr. Dalziel as to what might be done to diagnose what my sight was doing he asserted that no other tests were available to assess or effect a solution to the vision problem. After having to take a very aggressive attitude I have since had extensive tests in a clinic in Auckland where a far more complete battery of tests proved with digital measuring and imagery that the lens is off centre in my eye.. The person conducting the examination suggested one of the arms that holds the lens in place is damaged. It is important you understand this all took time and energy and worry to achieve. This operation was over a year ago now and I am left with having to fight my way towards an outcome where I might see properly again.. I would warn strenuously against using this clinic or engaging the services of Dr. David Dalziel. Anyone is welcome to contact me for more details

I had a cataract removed and a new lens inserted which has been 100% successful. I found the Nurses very professional and explained each step of what was going to happen. Dr Dalziel answered all the questions I had. The procedure lasted around 10 mins. I will be going back to have my other eye done as soon as I can get in.
