β β β β β I enjoyed this DOC spot because there were kinda asigned spots for camping. The views off the lake were amazing. And if you can say awake the stars are something that people on the other side of the world will never see

β β β β β Great little campsite although very basic. When compared to rest of DOC sites. For the $13pppn it should have more to offer - its on par with the facilities of most 8$ a night DOC sites. A beer down at the water at sunset is lovely with plenty of room to cook. ??
Please like this review if it helped ?

β β β β β Large Campsite with places to pitch tents. There are long drop toilets (I was bitten to death by sandflies while using these) would definitely recommend packing insect repellent. It was extremely windy in the parts of the Campsite with a lake view (only a small section) and there is access to a long pebble beach on the lakefront.
Watch out as one of the paths leads down towards the lake is not safe for vechile use and urgently needs roping off or a sign; while we were there someone got their campervan stuck and it took 6 people to push them up the track.

β β β β β Doc camp on way to Milford. us and 1 other there. large camp with plenty of spaces. nearer to Te Anau than Milford. quite pot holed on road but flattish parking. loo's, paid $8 per person per night although it didn't actually say how much it was. that was what we paid at other doc camps so that's all they got.

β β β β β Spectacular views and a great location. From the lake shore you look across the lake into the Middle Fiord with Center Island to the left. Te Anau is not far away, but Henry Creek is isolated enough that after dark all you can hear is the lake. Plenty of sites for camper vans, but tent sites are a bit limited as most of them are in the forest where tree roots make the ground a bit uneven, luckily we visited at a pretty quiet time so there was a lot of space. Unfortunately the on site toilets left a lot to be desired, even for longdrops. All of the DOC campsites had the same style of toilets.
Of all the DOC campsites on Milford road this one was definitely my favorite. Like everywhere in this area, don't forget sandfly repellent.

β β β β β AWESOME PLACE. There's plenty of parking space with tables, toilets close by and close to the lake, under the trees. You'll go to sleep and wake up With birds singing around you and magnificent views. Make sure you're there for sunset and hope for a clear sky.

β β β β β Good campsite or lunch stop if your on your way to Milford sound. Easy drive and very peaceful with beautiful birdsong. A lot of campsites available here. Have a look at my pics for current pricing per person.

β β β β β What a beautiful place. Truelly worth a stop even just for lunch. There are toilets. (They where a bit full at the time though)
Apparently its a 15$ per person charge to "Freedom camp here" from the doc station out here. But I didnt see any of the 15 people staying there pay it. Make of that what you will.
