β β β β β Excellent and amazing value for money. Highly recommended. Admittedly I was very hesitate initially, with some not-so-good reviews , no idea about the company and thought we'd end up with an old bomb. We went for the smallest car . It was in excellent shape and had no problems with our 3000 km journey and fitted in all our camping gear. The best part was the low fuel consumption which was about 14 km per litre, fantastic with the price of petrol in NZ.

β β β β β I donβt typically take the time to write reviews but after doing A LOT of research on rental car companies and reading endless reviews while planning our own trip to New Zealand, I thought I should pay it forward and write a review. We had a great experience with Hitch. The price was very reasonable (~$600 for a month in November with unlimited mileage and zero excess) and they provided us with a Mazda 3 that was in excellent condition. We had zero problems with the car or the car rental company (which is exactly how you want it to go). Definitely would recommend their hassle-free and smooth service!

β β β β β Very bad experience and bad arrangement. Hope to put 0 star but couldn't. I booked the car about 6 months in advance and was offered a sedan car. I did write to check and confirmed that a sedan car will be given as I have 4 people with 2 big luggages. However, during pick up time, a hatch back car was given, which unable to fit these 2 luggages in the boot. And this was early in the morning around 5.30am. I waited until 8am when their office is opened to request a change and showed them the email they sent me that a sedan car will be provided. Sadly, they mentioned head office never tell them this and although they still have sedan cars, but these cars are booked and no free car allow me to exchange. They said what I can do is wait until one of the client that booked the sedan car cancel their booking or agree to change the car (not to mentioned the next client pick up time is in the afternoon), or I can cancel this booking and go find other car rental to rent. And to cancel, regardless of their mistake of not giving me the promised sedan car, due to company policy they need to charge me $70+ cancellation fee. I was very upset and dissapointed, ended up I paid these cancellation fee and go to other car rental. Will definitely not recommend and will not use this car rental again. Although they have a slighter cheaper rate, but this experience almost ruin my trip.

β β β β β Hitch is doing more excellent job than we expected, itβs my first time to use local car rental (compared to Avis etc). The Camry we rent has good condition to drive and we spend 8-days happy journey with it. I recommend Hitch, we drove aprox. 2500km in South Island and we pick this car in Christchurch. It is your eco choice to travel, condition is good but it is not very clean inside when we picked it up. At the end, I have to say, itβs a very good choice and donβt really need to worry about it as small company.
