★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We took our younger grandkids on the lake walkway and although we didn't reach the beach this time they were happy playing on the lake's edge in several "mini" hot water spots. There's a hot water stream nearby. Previous visits to the proper Hot Water Beach over the years was often "busy".

Interesting area of lake with pockets of hot water rising up from the beach; some areas in the shingle were very hot but mostly the lake was at normal temperature.
An interesting change from the central city lakeside

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went on a rainy day... noone there, but there's a nice walking/biking track along the lake and so I went for a walk and then took a dip in the hot water beach. Quite nice to have such a unique place like this in Aotearoa
