About Lola Rouge

Saigon, 1966

The Ports of Saigon are aflutter with colour, activity, the strange and the beautiful. Boat-lights flicker on the harbour.

Lantern lights glow golden, and sway as a warm breeze carries colourful scents of spice. A silk trader calls across the path with a gossipy charm amongst the hum of scooters. A band sets up in a make-shift bar. Raw brick walls draped with silks and ceilings strung with lanterns.

A striking lady in red steps forward in front of a crowd. Her cheekbones glisten as smoky eyes carefully scan the gathering crowd. A sea of onlookers; traders, sailors, the glamourous & wealthy, port workers and the tag-along revellers. Her soul-stirring voice cuts through the cacophony of noise, pouring out

across the harbour, rising up and up to the moon.

Music plays and exciting dishes are shared on loud tables. Spice, colour and flavour fill the senses. Sit back, relax and revel in the discovery of this time, this place.

Be transported.

My new best restaurant in Wellington. Staff are attentive and friendly. For the last 2 months reviews are all 5 stars so I think they have fine tuned the experience. Good selection if you are taking a vegetarian girl friend/wife. I enjoyed the 'Signature Tandoori Plate' which had a great selection of meats. Food is medium spicy with a nice chilli oil if wanted. Will definitely be going back again.

We popped in mid afternoon for a shopping break and cocktail. Service was quick and friendly. Cocktails were lovely, well made and presented and a snack of Kumara fries were also lovely.

We came across this place while browsing google maps looking for somewhere to go for dinner. The first impression upon entering was, wow! The decor was stunning, and it made me think of what a high-class place would be in the 70s, with purple velour and profound statements of blood-red colour. Greeted by friendly staff upon entry, they made us feel welcomed. We first ordered two Gin and Tonic's, which was a delight as they use East Imperial tonic. Glancing over the menu, first was plant-based dishes followed by Land and Sea. I liked how they offered vegan dishes first. From the plant-based menu, we ordered the Mori-Nu Tofu and the Lucknowi Kebabs. The tofu was ok; a little tasteless probably needed to be soaked in the sauce or be crispy tofu. The kebabs were great, some spicy and some not spicy, which was the perfect amount. From the Land and Sea menu, we ordered the Ika Karaage (deep-sea fried squid). It was some yummy, easily one of the best deep-fried squids I have had. The other main dish was the Tandoori Plate, which came with a selection of three types of meat, chicken, lamb and prawn. All of which was moist and succulent and the accompanying sauces to match and two fluffy naans. This dish was the highlight of the night. The flavours are perfectly balanced, and the textures were a delight. Initially, we thought we didn't order enough, but it was more than enough. We were disappointed that we couldn't order a dessert in the case of being too full. Overall this Lola Rouge is a must-try. The service was good, could be improved a little by taking away empty bottles and plates, so they don't sit too long. That would be my only feedback. This place is on the pricey side for two people, but thats a hotel for you. Without desserts, we spent $128. For us, it was well worth it for a fancy night out. If you are on the fence about this place, go check it out. We got there at 5:15, and it was already starting to pack out; by 6pm, it was fully packed. Bookings are essential.

Visited the latest opened restaurant lola rouge at naumi hotels wellington and i must say definately coming back again with my family. Had checked the reviews online and thought to give a try. Great cocktail selection. For food we ordered the kofta, signature tandoori plate, kebabs & prawn curry great flavours. Tandoori plate was the highlight. Awesome flavours from asia. And to finish we had the sharing dessert plate & halva(vegan one) never thought would get a gajar halva recipe plant based. Looks like the chef has done his research?

Lola Rouge has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wide beverage list and wonderful dessert. I recommend to everyone! Best things is that the all the staff know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Can't wait to come back on Christmas Day!

Shared a special dinner for two and couldn’t be happier with the evening. Though we only ordered a main each and a shared plate of the wok fried vegetables we were both absolutely satisfied by the end of our dishes. We both went for curries, lamb for me and prawn for her and both were the perfect level of spice, the prawn perhaps a touch spicier. I evened that out with a delicious cocktail featuring bird eye chili vodka, pineapple and passionfruit. We would have loved to have tried the dessert platter but after such sumptuous mains we just couldn’t fit in another bite. Looking forward to coming back again.

After seeing Lola Rouge pop up countless of times on my socials, I was convinced to go. We came during Chinese New Year and got the 3 tier platter offered for the week. The food was great and the drinks were even better! Definitely a great place with an alluring atmosphere.
