★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I booked this 2 bedroom suite by booking website, after reaching found no fans in one of the rooms, both the rooms were so hot (survived that night without fan ) was not clear at the time of booking. it is clearly shown everything is available. Also, there were extra charges if the dishes are not cleaned (not a big deal but should have been mentioned before under extra charges and fees apply). No rubbish bin in the kitchen to throw waste. I won't recommend this place to anyone but it is totally up to you, this is my view about this place. until now never been given two-star in any review. also one last thing my booking was canceled by the manager even after staying there and checking out successfully as required. I think it was done on purpose so that I can't put a review on the booking website.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was really conflicted about writing this review, but I know I'd have picked somewhere else if I'd known what to expect, so I'll give you the good and the bad, and you can decide.
After having booked a suite with twin beds, My sister and I arrived at 17:40 for our contactless check-in, only to find that the key had not been left out for us, and there was only one double bed inside. We rang the manager, and he said he would come to let us in, but that we hadn't let them know to make twin beds up (not the case, as I have written confirmation of the twin beds). We waited a few minutes for him to arrive, and he asked if we would be willing to wait a few minutes while he split the bed apart. We said not to worry about it because we really just wanted to settle in, so he offered to put us in the adjoining suite that was much bigger, which we gratefully accepted. Unfortunately, the upgrade ended up being more trouble than it was worth, what with the bathroom sink that didn't drain, the TV that didn't work (although it was fixed the following day), the mouldy shower, the stove element that was always on unless switched off at the wall (caused a bit of a carfuffle, as we thought somebody had been in our suite while we had ducked out), the grubby cups and glasses, the lack of supply of anything to wipe the benches down with or any tea towels (even though we were expected to clean the kitchen before we left so as not to incur an additional $20 charge), and the single electric blanket that was on the double bed. All in all, it was more trouble than it was worth, and I feel as though we would have had a Much better time if we'd just paid that little bit extra to go somewhere else in the first place.
Not to mention that the manager was talking in very raised tones when he came to talk to us about the stove, and definitely treated us as if we were making a big deal about nothing (pretty sure that's a health and safety breach though, and Definitely not safe if you have kids).
The maintenance guy was the only good thing about the place, to be honest. Very nice, calm guy who actually has people skills.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is about the fourth time I've stayed here over 8 years. Never had a problem with it, I don't know what the other people are complaining about on Google. Always like this place, it has a nice private feel with individual cabins/houses separated from each other resort style.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Disappointing to say the least.
The room itself was clean which was ideal obviously, however there are other issues with it. For one, on the website the photos that was advertised for the room don’t show the wall that has a door which has other people staying right there as well which isn’t an issue apart from the fact that we could hear literally everything they were saying and doing unfortunately. The noise kept us awake and woke us up the next day. Their light also shone through under the door which again kept us awake. The big bed was just two smaller beds put together which had an uncomfortable bit that stuck upwards in the middle. The shower was the worst pressure from a shower i’ve ever seen and the water didn’t drain well at the bottom. The towels we were given had blue marks on them. And the cherry on top was after staying i got a notification saying my booking had been cancelled which means i couldn’t leave a review. I definitely won’t be staying here again, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My daughter and I recently stayed here for three nights.
On the upside the grounds were beautiful and I can imagine back in its hay day it must have been a stunning place to stay.
The one staff member that we encountered was very helpful especially when we managed to lock ourselves out of our room.
Firstly this place would benefit from better signage & directions . We arrived after dark and spent some time trying to locate where our villa was. These villas & buildings could definitely do with a huge refurbishment.
Our room was small but that was ok as we only were sleeping there. The blinds in the room were thick with dust . We noticed that there was no smoke detectors in the rooms. The toilet roll holder kept falling off the wall.
First two nights we were lucky not to have any neighbours in the adjoining rooms, but night three we had neighbours. We were able to here most of what was going in next door. Little sleep that night. And finally the biggest thing was we didn’t have hot water for showers . So I contacted receptionist and they said I would have to wait 40-50mins for hot water to come through as the hot water tank is shared between the units.
It’s pretty unsatisfactory. We won’t be recommending or staying here again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I shared my stay with two friends. We stayed 3 days and 3 nights. Our accommodations was more like a comfortable, cozy and pleasant cottage. You provide your own food and bring sheets, pillowcases and extra blankets. It is a walkable distance from town and we did walk there and back. The view from our accommodation was beautiful and over looked Taupō. I'd recommend it if you don't mind looking after yourself ??.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited and stayed 5 years ago. Then stayed recently. Big changes which reflect inattention and aging units. Great wood interiors, plenty of space in kitchen / lounge. But window frames and exterior of unit need painting and sprucing up. Owing to Omicron service and key was non- contact and no one on site when we had an issue. Phone number given did not reply. Area around the Quality Suite is a building site. Gone is the spacious area around the suites and the feeling of space and privacy in the past. After all this it IS value for money and it IS comfortable and has good WiFi.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful place with beautiful surroundings.
I will start with the negative first.
Dead flies hanging in the curtain creases,
Mould in the shower,
TV is very small and in an inconvenient place
A beautiful building, but very outdated, could do with fresh and up to date light fittings and walls.
Cold tap in the bathroom was loose and intimidating to use,
Cutlery, cups and glasses were unclean,
Not enough sugar,
Too hard to book on website, and address on website is incorrect
Driving in, the building where the catering business is, is a bit of an eye sore as well as a vehicle belonging to the place with a smashed out back window.
Now for the positive.
nice and quiet
bed was super comfy and large
room was very warm
Customer service was super friendly, above and beyond
Shower was nice and hot, linen nice and clean.
HOWEVER! I would come and stay there again for the fact of convenience, comfort and privacy. The villas are placed perfectly and with a little upgrade and TLC I would pay a little more. The price charged may be a little bit more than what its worth, but for Taupo rates, one cant complain.
