This place is definitely worth visiting. I truly enjoyed my stay here. Every time when I walk out of the door, the view is always breath-taking. Don't even wait until I mention the stargaze you can do when it gets dark, simply come here and see for yourself. It is slightly away from the crowded water front, which allows you to have a better angle to see this beautiful gem of North island (in a quiet atmosphere). Supermarket and beach is about 5-8 minutes away, and it is pretty easy to buy stuff if you prefer cooking. The owners of this warm hideout are so kind, and you can surely see that they got their own characteristics woven into their business rather than just running a motel like what all the motels do. I really appreciate this coz I believe people only do this for things they are passionate about. I have no idea why they got marked down a bit because all I see both from my own experience and the other reviews are pretty positive.? Keep on keeping on, and hopefully I get to come back in the near future

Seriously dont book here for accommodation, we booked in for 4 nights, the owner's were appalling, our room was dirty and had cockroaches in it, I let Shelia know and asked and if we could have another room that's when I discovered the wrath of these owner's, just rude, unprofessional and not helpful at all to resolve the issue so we left after the first night, we didn't need horrible people like this ruining our trip. Norman and Shelia were not made to serve in the hospitality business. You need to pass your business on and retire or leave our country its people like you that that ruin the industry. But if your looking for a great hotel that has amazing rooms and service The paihia beach resort and spa is the place to go.

If you could put no stars i would, owners seemed fine when my partner went in to book them in but when I came from the car to ask a question about things to do in the area, she didn't respond to me ignored me and would only talk to my partner. He didn't take to well and she said there was nearby accomodation that we may find more affordable and with our "own kind" there. She was referring to me as I'm clearly Maori and my partner is White. And that's all I'll say about our stay here.

Perfect location with stunning views overlooking Waitangi and Russell- 6 min drive to Paihia waterfront. Norm and Sheila are friendly informative hosts. The rooms and property are spotlessly maintained- we would definitely stay again

A wonderful welcome form the owners Norman and Shelagh. We stay in a studio which are always clean, spacious and well equiped. This is our 4th or 5th visit and we always look forward to Coming back. The fabulous views and ambience make for a relaxing weekend or longer. Would Thoroughly recommend a stay here. Great also that we can bring the dog.

This weekend myself, my wife & 3 friends stayed in the two room apartment right at the top of the motel. Room #1 . The room itself LOOKED clean, but there was lots of dust on top of appliances & on the art stuck to the wall in the kitchen (which was right above the stove top) was a bit off putting.. there was also hair on the carpets & bits of small rubbish under the bed in one of our rooms. I saw this all up close & personal as dropped my phone on the ground & had to get on the floor to find it. The first rooms (1, 2 & 3) are VERY close together, which wasn'tan issue for us just something to keep in mind if you are looking at booking the 2 bdrm apartments.. the staff were very nice ON ARRIVAL.. That changed when they drove up to our room & spoke rudely to our visitors & asked them to leave!! Turns out, unbeknownst to us they had decided that this particular weekend they weren't allowing guests to have visitors.. we had no prior knowledge of this, only when they showed up to our room unannounced. This was not in their policy or anywhere on their site. We had travelled hours to be there & would have booked elsewhere had we know this in advance. Keep in mind we paid $600+ for this particular room. They asked us to turn our music down, we agreed & asked if anyone had complained (as it was at a lower volume than the TV in the lounge which they supplied) & were told no, but that she didn't like it.. the only reason she even heard our music in the first place was because she turned up to our room to ask our 3 visitors to leave! We were referred to as "people like you" & were told we could leave if we didn't like the newly added rule but wouldn't get any of our money back if we did so. This made our stay very uncomfortable & we were all very disappointed as we booked this months in advance and had been looking forward to this. Overall the stay was uncomfortable & we were on edge the whole weekend so it wasn't enjoyable. Won't be staying here in the future. Advice to anybody thinking about booking here. Save yourself the disappointment & book elsewhere.

Highly recommend. I stayed three nights this easter weekend with my 7 yr old son. The pool is massive and beautifully maintained, views are exceptional, great trampoline for the kids. Tranquil and amazing view of bright stars at night. Short drive to beach, supermarket and restaurants nearby. Our room was clean and tidy, very comfy bed, modern bathroom, all obvious kitchen facilities including fridge, microwave, toaster, jug, utensils etc. Would have loved a hairdryer but I'm sure if I asked, Sheila would have provided me with one. Norm and Sheila were lovely hosts, always friendly and talkative, very kind to my son and I. They made us feel very welcome at all times. Treat your hosts politely and they will bend over backwards for you. ⭐⭐⭐⭐?

We had a lovely 2 night stay here. The hosts are lovely people with good English humor, im sadden to see some reviews left by people as we had the opposite experience to them. We will 100% be staying here again. P.s. we are a young couple and felt very accepted here.
