★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was lucky to be brought here once a week as a child. Then it became overpriced. But it's back to nostalgia. The prices, the food quality and especially the staff. So glad we went back for dinner tonight ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Found this place online when Google-mapping somewhere to eat for my Taupo road trip. After 2 hours battling trucks (ironically) on the Napier-Taupo road I was primed for a big feed of good ol' US of A diner food! After walking in and wondering why the place was tumbleweed at lunchtime, it became clear.
My very thin and milky caramel shake was served at room temperature and I was given a straw that was shorter than the bottle it was served in, so I had to stick my fingers in each time if I wanted my straw back. And as the straw was too short for the bottle you won't reach what's left in the bottom of the bottle. I've Google-searched 60's diner milkshakes and nowhere did I see a picture of a shake served in a minature milk bottle with a too-short straw.
The luke-warm beef pie had a soft, chewy pastry so I assume it was warmed in a microwave, topped with a lumpy mix they called gravy, and the carrots had some sort of jelly all over them. Possibly with bits of onion in it?...(see picture). Never seen anything quite like it. Awful food and drink. No stars for the kitchen but two for the diner concept itself.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time visiting today liked the environment was nice. Coffee was terrible was hot water with no coffee taste and food was average the mince was more of a runny soup. Was ok if your hungry and didn't have a better option.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you're after a basic but hearty meal this is the place to go. Meals are massive and very reasonably priced. Service from the gentleman behind the counter couldn't have been better, he was an absolute delight.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing delicious burger and great friendly staff. Highly recommend and the staff does make sure customers are well served and taken care of. Make sure to eat the Chicken Burger, its definitely tasteful! Fast and efficient service. No extra words to describe the place, better go and experience yourself :))

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love the decor! Love the music that they play! Milkshakes are really good. Beef Burger was good with its homemade pattie and the pickle on it was yum. Savoury pancake stack was nice with the bacon, banana and maple syrup. For the price and the word "stack" I was expecting more pancakes but you get 2. We also tried the steak pie n mash from the $17 trucker menu. The pie was microwaved, wasnt what we expected or very nice UPDATE 24/4 Had a great experience. Awesome meals and still yummy milkshakes

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely LOVE this place!! Gary runs it so well and you can tell this in the food! It's nothing fancy but that's what makes it what it is! I would say reasonable on price as it's hard to eat anywhere in NZ without it costing the earth! We've been up a few times as locals and I normally love the breakfast and he loves the burgers! A little off the beaten track but worth it!!!
