β β β β β Horrible customer service no smiling not cheerful. She didnβt smiled even once. I told her i need 4wd car but she denied that i never mention it instead she insist that i asked for suv which i never mentioned. Raising voice with a customer trying to scare them. I an a peace loving guy so i decided to write a review then arguing with her and create a scene.

β β β β β After booking online for an entire trip, we arrived to find they did not accept people on P plates, this despite us checking online. There should definitely be a clear statement of this policy to avoid leaving people stranded at an airport and a holiday in jeopardy.

I'd like to give negative stars if i could. We dropped off the car at Queenstown airport and asked a staff to check the car at return. We were told just to park the car at Jucys bay and she would sort it out. 1 week later, we received an email saying a payment of $543 charged from my credit car for a windscreen replacement. A WINDSCREEN REPLACEMENT, what a noticeable chip or crack or smash would need a replacement and without a driver and passengers notice. I have contacted them for explanation and evidence, nothing provided so far. 6 of us were pretty sure there was NO damage or even a scratch at all to the car. We tried to phone and email them so many times, there is no reply. Also Expedia contacted them many times, there is no reply at all.
I'd like to warn travelers to avoid this company. We never had any issues with any other companies, this is the FIRST time. PLEASE BE AWARE

β β β β β 0 stars isn't an option, so I'm leaving 1 star. What a shady business practice. After having a confirmed reservation for a compact car at a given price, upon arrival we were only offered a different car at a higher price. Upon dispute, the corporate office of Thrifty/Dollar was happy to give us a refund for the additional amount, but then they said that this specific location was independently owned, so it was out of their hands. This location in Queenstown was unresponsive to emails, bad at planning, and not customer-friendly at all. Rent elsewhere.

β β β β β Love the Thrifty counter at Queenstown Airport. Cars always ready when booked. Great rate for NRMA members. Never had any problem with damage issues. Very friendly staff. Great start to staying and holidaying in New Zealand.

The customer service I received was great, very warm and friendly however my travels got delayed an hour due to an operations mishap. I had booked for 11am and upon arriving, I was initially told that my car wasn't ready but won't be long and to stand by, after 20 minutes of waiting I returned to the desk to be told by the manager that my car was always ready, they are just trying to shuffle about the pick up carpark to make it fit and then she left to sort it out, 11:40am and the desk staff had no communication from the manager or carparkers so they had no idea of when we (myself and the 3 other delayed customers) would be getting the cars.
I need to mention the staff were apologizing profusely and appeared very embarrassed about the situation, thanks for doing your best guys!
I landed up getting the keys just after 12pm with no apology from the manager who was in the carpark when I picked up the vehicle.
I requested a small vehicle but landed up with an SUV, great vehicle but I chose the small one for fuel economy as I was only me travelling. My only comment on the vehicle itself, not as clean as one would expect, there were a lot of little crumbs about and hiding under seats.
The manager seemed lovely but pretty stressed which made communication with myself and the staff seem a bit blunt/harsh, I understand this is not how a normal day would run but maintaining kindness despite stress would be great to see.
All in all, a bit messy but I only lost an hour, I'm lucky my travels weren't time sensitive, I would still happily book again and I really hope this was just an off day.

β β β β β Amazing customer service by the kind lady at the desk. If you are reading this thank you so much for your exceptional hospitality. Loved the cars. Excellent mint condition, serviced, well groomed and new cars. Insurance was expensive but I guess new and high end cars cost that much. I loved the driving and renting experience in both of the cars I rented from you guys. Amazing friendly staff made it an even better experience. Cheers, have a nice day :)
