★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We booked a car with Sixt two months prior to our visit of Queenstown. When we arrived at the counter, we were greeted by very friendly staff. However, we were told that they did not have any car available for us, which seemed very weird, given that we had booked well in advance. We then realized that there were 4 other groups of people who were in the exact same situation as us. After long discussion, we were lucky to be offered a car, but other people around us were not as lucky and were offered to book a taxi to their accommodation, and to taxi back to the car rental place the following day. I am not sure how it is being managed, if they overbook their fleet, or something else, but there is definitely something wrong.
The last thing you want when you go on holiday is being told that you will not have a mean of transport on arrival.
Sixt, please review your booking system.

From the moment we booked to dropping off the professionalism far exceeded expectations.
The opportunity to upgrade to a Land Rover Defender truly was the icing on the cake.
Sixt will now always be our preferred first option.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Easily the worst rental car handover experience I have ever had. 45 minutes from standing in the queue at QTN Airport to getting the keys to the car. I had made the booking 5 months earlier and specifically booked snow chains. I was then told these were not available despite calls from the front desk to the manager. After requesting to speak directly to the manager somehow chains were miraculously found. You had to be persistent to get what you had actually booked.
The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly and deserve medals for having to front the customers for all the operational holes that were clearly causing frustrations and time delays for customers.
The car we hired was actually really good (Seat Tarraco) but would not recommend SixT at all. Compared to other rental car companies I have used in Queenstown the experience was a distant last!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Would not recommend if you are travelling long distances i.e Queenstown to Milford or any gravel/rural drives. Any cracks that happen that are not your fault will be at your expense. Good for drives around main area of Queenstown but no further.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hired a motor for my wedding and these guys are awesome! I booked online and it was a very smooth process. I did have additional questions because there was some minor issue with the app. I dealt with a lady called Sophie from the contact centre who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. Collecting the car at Queenstown Airport was easy with a friendly and helpful lady at the counter. We had an early departure so drop off was outside of hours but that was also a breeze. Very happy overall, will use these guys again when the opportunity presents. PS the Merc was fantastic to drive! Thank you SIXT

We arrived to Queenstown, booked the LR defender online branch lady helpful smiling and welcoming with good instructions how to get to the vehicle with a map. Drop off was smooth as well, their staff were in the car park to collect the keys so we could go straight to our flight without visiting branch again.
