★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overall a positive experience for our 5 1/2 week, 4700km trip around the North and South Islands, however there are couple of things to mention. Prior to departing Australia, I phoned Mighty in New Zealand to specifically ask if a surf board would fit in the under storage area of the 6 birth that we ordered and was told that it would not. Because of this information I left my board at home but as it turned out it would have easily fitted and I was extremely annoyed by this. The upholstery on the dining area seats was filthy and the kitchen drawers were rusty, making them difficult to open. The main bed was quite uncomfortable, with the metal springs coming through. The water tank for the toilet was empty on pick up and the electric kettle was also faulty from pick up and when I mentioned this when I returned the camper I was informed that this was a common complaint.... so why not check this before departure? Lack of preventative maintenance was also evident with the shoulder of one of rear inside tyre being bald, obviously having been switched out from the front due to poor wheel alignment. It was clear that this was still not fixed as the camper would pull to the left and after 4700km's one of the front tyres was clearly wearing in the same way. The roof also leaked around the vent onto the kids mattress in medium rain. The fridge stopped working and the only solution offered was for us to buy an esky (chilly bin) and get reimbursed at the end of our trip or to drive 2 hours out of our way. No compensation was offered for the inconvenience of this. The heater in the van worked well, as did the hot water supply for the shower and kitchen. I could understand some of these issues being overlooked if they were very busy but with Covid and the lack of tourists I would not have expected any maintenance issues. Overall though, we had a fantastic time and these issues did not take away from our camper holiday. My advice to Mighty is to focus on attention to detail and getting their vans 100% right before renting them out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The service received was top class, and they are highly recommended. The camper van however had a couple of faults. One was that the solar charging wasn't working at all which meant that the secondary battery would go flat very soon after the engine was switched off. The other issue was that mosquitos would still get in even though all of the windows and screens were closed. This is a design fault with the camper van itself.
Other than those two issues, the overall experience was very good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We (2adults+9month baby) rented a Mighty Deuce Plus for 32 days Jan-Mar 2020. On arrival we had to wait approximately one hour to get our van. Other than that the pickup process was very smooth and we were given a Britz Venturer Plus, although no one mentioned an upgrade :). This was much appreciated as the van felt very new, drove like a beauty and the slide out BBQ that we wouldn't have had otherwise was an absolute blast, used more or less every other night.
We also got the Okay2Stay / LocalStays subscription – highly recommended as this provided us with two of our most beautiful campsites.
The Express Return Pack was also very convenient, although initially seeming slightly expensive. In addition to not having to empty toilet, waste water and fill up LPG and diesel on our day of departure and making the drop-off process really quick, it actually saved us some money for not having to pay the NZ road user charge calculated on mileage (we drove 5,000+ km).
Minus one star due to that we had to change the house battery mid-way through our journey. The fridge wouldn't last one day without external power and reading that it should normally last 1-3 nights between charges we got in touch with customer service who scheduled a service time for us in Queenstown on fairly short notice. However due to limited availability of technicians we had to delay our itinerary and thus lost one travel day.
All in all a good experience with so many great memories from our time in and around the van!
