Absolutely terrible experience with Europcar. There were so many hidden costs after already booking the car online. Our car was returned on the 2nd September and I have only just received my bond back (End of November) after my bank’s disputes team had to intervene. I made at least 4 phone calls asking about when I would receive my bond back and I received different answers every time. I was then told twice that Europcar would follow up with my bank and my bank confirmed both times they had received no communications. The only saving grace was the lovely man (I believe his name was Wayne) working at the Picton branch who helped us with returning the car and dropping us at the ferry terminal.

Not a great experience with europcar queenstown. Charged our credit card with a parking infringement fee, a month after our holiday, when we definitely did not get a parking fine while away. They provided no proof of the fine or whereabouts it happened, just a vague letter saying they had charged our credit card. Also tried to up sell us insurance we had already previously purchased.

Unprofessional service- nobody was at the counter when we were trying to pick our car at the airport. Call the phone on the counter and a man showed up after 15 min saying our car bookings were not available(booked a Toyota Carola) and forced us into an 'upgrade' to a Kia car with an annoying feature of road alignment (have to shut it down every time when start up the car). Will not use this company again - when we were at the airport and seeing all the queues at the other companies' counters we knew we've made a wrong decision.

Charged me almost $1000 for fix the a small dot on the gate. It was there before I pick it up. Trying contact them and just no1 answer my question and very doggy. unbelievable!!!

Really dodgy be aware when you sign on the sheet. We booked through rentalcars.com and bought full insurance, when we pick up the car, staff was trying to upsell insurance even we told her we had already bought full insurance through rentalcars.com, later after holiday we were charged $49, called them to clarify what that charges for, they reckon it was road assistance option which we had no idea when we agreed to add on, Requested the proof of the contract… Its only $49, but feel really yucky and dodgy. First time experiencing such a thing wondering if this is their error or pattern.

Easy pick up and drop off, hassle free. Our flight got cancelled initially and we called Europcar and they amended the booking, picked up the car the following day - will use them again.

I booked a premium car online (BMW 330i M sport) whilst in Queenstown, received my confirmation via email, then when I went to collect the car, it was not available, nor could an equivelent vehicle be offered. Highly disappointed.
